Nearly three thousand people backed the Győr+ Media’s charity initiative, that is how many people ran on the XIIth Győr Sports and Health Day in September.

Based on the achieved kilometres and the number of participants the companies in Győr and the local government contributed various amount to the price of the blood gas analyser. Those wishing to help could place money on site in the collection boxes of the Lurkó Foundation, this is how the required amount was gathered.

„When we dreamt up the idea of how we would like to help the hospital, I didn’t even hope to be able to hand over such a significant equipment as a Christmas present. I am proud that we could connect the residents’ willingness to help with the hospital’s needs, and that we were able to buy an equipment for the paediatric unit that was much needed for a long time.”- said Péter Endrődi, the managing director of Győr+ Media Zrt. emphasized during the handover ceremony of the equipment that part of the media’s job is to stand up for good causes. Life proved that we can dare to dream big and we are going to carry on in the future too!”- he added.

Dr. Viktória Ruszinkó the hospital’s chief medical officer of the Paediatrics Professional Group pointed out that the equipment is essential for the care of children in serious condition: it measures the parameters used to determine the body’s acid-base balance, also measures the blood’s oxygen and carbon dioxide content, the potassium and sodium level and the blood sugar levels, furthermore it also shows the haemoglobin and haematocrit values. Without these data amongst others the ventilation and the care of the children suffering from severe diabetes or heart and kidney disease couldn’t be carried out.

„The unit has already been in possession of a blood gas analyser that was used to measure the important parameters, but this device gives us the information much faster only within 22 seconds” - we learnt from dr. László János Tamás director chief medical officer who emphasized that every single forint is extremely important for the hospital, all donations come in handy for the institution.

The equipments are deteriorating rapidly, for their replacement and acquiring new ones social cooperation is needed- this is what dr. Zoltán Skaliczky chief medical officer, organizational manager talked about, he also mentioned that the health care even in the world’s richest countries couldn’t not operate without the support of the civils.
